Teaching comes naturally to me — I believe my role is to help the learner travel from a place of curiosity to clarity.
My goal in every class or learning get-together is the same: that whoever learns from me leaves feeling proud of what they made.
I love designing curriculum — simple lessons that work for beginners and advanced learners alike, a space wide enough for everyone to grow, kids to adults, with art experience or none. I work with century-old Indian folk art traditions and fine art foundations both, building lessons that make each one easy to understand, from its elements and composition to the stories it tells. Being an art docent lets me be around children and watch their curiosity and understanding unfold — that feeling never gets old.
Every lesson I plan is about more than just the art — it's about the creative process, and helping each art form take real root in the person learning it. I bring that same care whether it's my Shakthicircle mindful art sessions or my regular classes.
Apart from the visual and folk art, I volunteer to teach Tamil and Sanskrit songs and dance for kids growing up in the U.S.
